《ਹਾਥੀ》
Elephants
ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ, ਕੋਮਲ ਦੈਂਤ,
ਤਾਕਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਰਮਾਈ ਲੁਕੀ,
ਹਾਥੀ, ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ,
ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰ।
Kings of the forest, gentle giants tall,
Strength wrapped in tenderness for all,
Elephants, symbols of wisdom deep,
Family guardians, promises to keep.
ਵੱਡੇ ਕੰਨ ਹਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਹਿਰਾਉਂਦੇ,
ਲੰਬੀ ਸੂੰਡ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਂਦੇ,
ਮੋਟੇ ਪੈਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹਦੇ,
ਹਰ ਕਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਧਰਤੀ ਥਰ-ਥਰਾਉਂਦੇ।
Big ears flapping in the breeze,
Long trunk drinking with such ease,
Thick legs touching earth below,
Every step makes the ground's pulse flow.
ਹਾਥੀ ਦੀ ਯਾਦਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਅਦਭੁਤ,
ਸਾਲਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖਦੇ,
ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ, ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ,
ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਸੰਭਾਲਦੇ।
Elephants' memory is amazing true,
Years later they still remember you,
Their family, friends, and loving ties,
Memories of love never dies.
ਮਾਂ ਹਾਥਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ,
ਸੂੰਡ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੀ,
ਹਰ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਂਦੀ,
ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਅਮਰ ਹੈ।
Mother elephant loves her baby dear,
With her trunk she holds them near,
Protecting from every danger's call,
A mother's love conquers all.
ਝੁੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਥੀ,
ਇੱਕ-ਦੂਜੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਦਿੰਦੇ,
ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਮਾਦਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੰਨਦੇ।
In herds elephants stay together,
Supporting each other through any weather,
Elder female leads the way,
All follow her wisdom every day.
ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਹਾਥੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ,
ਸਾਰਾ ਝੁੰਡ ਸੋਗ ਮਨਾਉਂਦਾ,
ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹਦੇ,
ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ।
When an elephant passes away,
The whole herd mourns that day,
Touching bones with trunks so tender,
Their loved one they remember.
ਹਾਥੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮਝਦਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ,
ਔਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਰਤਣੇ ਜਾਣਦੇ,
ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਹੱਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ,
ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੀ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਹਨ।
Elephants are very intelligent beings,
They know how to use tools for their dealings,
Can solve problems with their mind,
Wisdom's example, one of a kind.
ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੇਡਣਾ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ,
ਸੂੰਡ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ,
ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹਾਉਂਦੇ,
ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਿਤਾਉਂਦੇ।
They love to play in water clear,
Showering with trunks without fear,
Bathing in mud with pure delight,
Spending time from morn till night.
ਹਾਥੀ ਸ਼ਾਕਾਹਾਰੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਦਿਨ ਭਰ ਘਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਪੱਤੇ ਖਾਂਦੇ,
ਫਲ ਅਤੇ ਛਿਲਕੇ ਪਸੰਦ ਹਨ,
ਕੁਦਰਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲੀ ਕਹਾਉਂਦੇ।
Elephants are herbivores by nature,
All day eating grass, every feature,
Fruits and bark they love to eat,
Nature's gardeners, role complete.
ਉਹ ਬੀਜ ਫੈਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜੰਗਲ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ,
ਰਾਹ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਲਈ,
ਕੁਦਰਤ ਦੇ ਸੰਤੁਲਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੇ।
They spread seeds wherever they roam,
Keeping forests as their home,
Creating paths for others too,
Nature's balance they renew.
ਪਰ ਹਾਥੀ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ,
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਘੱਟ ਰਿਹਾ,
ਹਾਥੀ-ਦੰਦ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ,
ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ।
But elephants are in danger now,
Their home is shrinking, we must vow,
Hunted for ivory so white,
We must protect them, it's our right.
ਹਾਥੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਕੀ ਹੈ,
ਬੁੱਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ,
ਕੋਮਲਤਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Elephants teach us lessons true,
Family's value shining through,
With wisdom and with strength combined,
Gentleness of heart and mind.
ਆਓ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਬਚਾਈਏ,
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਮਲ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ,
ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਲਈ,
ਇਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਨ।
Let us together save and protect,
These gentle giants we must respect,
For future generations yet to come,
Earth's treasure, each and every one.
ਹਾਥੀ, ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ,
ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰ,
ਸਦਾ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ,
ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ, ਸਦਾ ਲਈ।
Elephants, symbols of wisdom bright,
Family guardians, day and night,
May they forever roam and stay,
On this earth, come what may.
