Listen to the Song

Lyrics

(PSALMS)

The Psalms are songs, both joyful and true,

Written by David and others who knew.

They praise the Lord for His mercy and love,

For His faithfulness and power above.

With hearts of worship, they lift His name,

Declaring His glory, His eternal reign.

A guide for prayer, for joy, and despair,

The Psalms remind us that God is there.

The heavens declare His glory so bright,

The stars and the moon proclaim His might.

The mountains bow, the seas obey,

Creation rejoices in God’s display.

He is our refuge, our strength, our shield,

To Him, in worship, our hearts must yield.

The Psalms teach us to trust and sing,

For God is Creator, our sovereign King.

The steadfast love of the Lord never fades,

His mercy endures through all of our days.

He hears the cries of the broken and weak,

He lifts the humble, gives strength to the meek.

His covenant stands, His promises sure,

Through every trial, His love will endure.

The Psalms remind us to trust His plan,

For God is faithful to every man.

In times of trouble, the psalmists would cry,

“Why, O Lord, do You seem so high?

My enemies mock, my soul is in pain,

But I will trust You again and again.”

The Psalms teach us to bring our despair,

To God in prayer, for He is there.

Even in sorrow, His hope is near,

He wipes away every tear.

The wicked may rise and seem to prevail,

But God’s justice will never fail.

He defends the poor, the orphan, the weak,

He lifts the lowly, the humble, the meek.

The Lord is righteous, His judgments are true,

He sees all things, and His mercies are new.

The Psalms proclaim His justice and grace,

Calling His people to seek His face.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,”

The psalmists sang, as they should.

With harps and cymbals, their voices raised,

They sang of His wonders, His name they praised.

From the rising sun to its setting light,

God’s name is exalted, His glory is bright.

The Psalms invite us to worship and sing,

To rejoice in the goodness of our King.

The Psalms foretell of the Savior to come,

The anointed one, God’s own Son.

He is the King who will reign on high,

Bringing salvation, His love will not die.

Psalm 22 foretells His suffering and pain,

While Psalm 110 proclaims His reign.

The Psalms point forward to Christ our King,

In Him, redemption and hope they bring.

The book of Psalms is a treasure so deep,

For every soul who mourns or weeps.

It teaches us praise, lament, and prayer,

To trust in God’s love, His constant care.

Through joy and sorrow, triumph and fear,

The Psalms remind us that God is near.

A guide for worship, for all to sing,

Declaring the glory of our eternal King.
