(NUMBERS)

God commanded, .... "Count every name,

The tribes of Israel, their numbers proclaim.

Men of war, from twenty years,

Stand and be counted, despite your fears.

Twelve tribes encamped, each in their place,

Around the Tabernacle, God's dwelling space.

Levites chosen, set apart,

To serve the Lord with a faithful heart."

The cloud would lift, the trumpets would sound,

The people marched where God was found.

The Ark went forward, the way was clear,

God’s presence led, His people drew near.

But grumbling rose, complaints took hold,

Manna rejected, their hearts grew cold.

Quail was given, but judgment fell,

A warning sounded, a tale to tell.

Twelve were sent to spy the land,

The promise of God, so close at hand.

The land was rich, its fruit so sweet,

But giants roamed where they’d compete.

Fear took hold, ten hearts of stone,

But Caleb and Joshua stood alone.

"Trust in the Lord, He’ll give the land,

For He is faithful, His promises stand."

The people rebelled, refused to go,

Their faith was weak, their trust was low.

God decreed, "For forty years,

You’ll wander the desert through trials and tears.

Your children will see the land you’ve lost,

But for your rebellion, there is a cost.

A generation will pass away,

Before my promise sees the light of day."

Fiery serpents, judgment’s sting,

The people cried out to their King.

Moses prayed, and God made a way,

A bronze serpent to heal that day.

"Look and live," the Lord proclaimed,

Mercy given, though they were blamed.

A shadow of grace, a glimpse to see,

Of healing found upon a tree.

Balak called Balaam to curse the land,

But God had blessings in His hand.

On the road, a donkey saw,

The angel of God, the holy law.

The prophet struck, the donkey spoke,

A voice of truth, the silence broke.

Balaam blessed where curses were planned,

God’s will prevailed through His command.

The first generation had passed away,

A new one rose to take their place that day.

To Moab’s plains, they journeyed on,

God’s covenant sure, His promise strong.

Laws were given, the land was near,

God’s people prepared, His voice they’d hear.

From Sinai’s mountain to Jordan’s shore,

God’s faithfulness endures evermore.
