(NEHEMIAH)

In Persia, Nehemiah heard the news,

Jerusalem’s walls were broken, the city abused.

He wept and prayed, sought God’s aid,

For his people’s safety, he fervently prayed.

The king gave permission, supplies, and care,

Nehemiah set out to rebuild and repair.

With faith in God and a heart so true,

He led the charge to make all things new.

Nehemiah arrived, surveyed the land,

The walls were in ruins, it was time to stand.

He rallied the people, each had a role,

To rebuild the walls was their ultimate goal.

Through opposition, they worked with might,

With tools in one hand and swords for the fight.

Despite the threats, they stood as one,

Until the work of the wall was done.

Sanballat and Tobiah mocked their cause,

Trying to stop them, to give them pause.

But Nehemiah prayed and stayed on track,

Trusting the Lord to push evil back.

Plots and schemes tried to bring them down,

But God gave strength, and victory was found.

The wall was completed in fifty-two days,

And the people gave God their praise.

The wall was rebuilt, but hearts needed more,

Ezra the scribe brought God’s Law to the fore.

The people gathered, from morning till night,

Listening to Scripture, seeking God’s light.

Conviction fell, their sins laid bare,

They wept and repented in humble prayer.

But joy was proclaimed, “The Lord is your strength,”

As they pledged to follow Him at length.

The people confessed and made a vow,

To follow God faithfully, starting now.

They promised to worship, to tithe, and obey,

To keep God’s commands every day.

They separated from foreign sin,

Restoring their covenant with Him again.

With hearts restored, they sought His face,

To live as His people, by His grace.

Nehemiah governed with wisdom and care,

Fighting injustice, ensuring fairness was there.

He rebuked the wealthy who oppressed the poor,

Demanding they give what they unjustly tore.

He refused riches, served with his heart,

A leader set apart from the start.

His example of service, humble and true,

Points us to God in all that we do.

The wall was finished, the city restored,

The people rejoiced and worshiped the Lord.

With choirs and music, they marched in praise,

Thanking God for His mercy and ways.

The temple was filled, the priests took their stand,

God’s Word was honored throughout the land.

Nehemiah returned, his mission complete,

God’s faithfulness made their joy replete.

The book of Nehemiah shows God’s great plan,

To restore His people and rebuild the land.

Through prayer, perseverance, and faith so strong,

God’s people were strengthened to right the wrong.

It reminds us today of His power to renew,

When we trust in Him, He’ll see us through.
