(ESTHER)

King Xerxes ruled with power and pride,

He held a feast with his queen by his side.

But Vashti refused when he called her forth,

And the king’s anger burned with force.

She lost her crown, her role was gone,

A new queen was sought to carry on.

God’s plan unfolded behind the scene,

To raise up Esther as Persia’s queen.

Esther, a Jew, was chosen with care,

Her beauty and grace were beyond compare.

Mordecai, her cousin, her guardian wise,

Told her to keep her heritage disguised.

She gained the king’s favor, became his bride,

Unaware of the danger that loomed inside.

God placed her there, His will to fulfill,

To save His people and show His will.

Haman, an official with pride so high,

Was angered when Mordecai wouldn’t comply.

He plotted to kill all the Jews in the land,

And gained the king’s approval for his plan.

A decree was issued, destruction was near,

The Jews were filled with sorrow and fear.

But God was working, His plan would prevail,

Through Esther’s courage, His people wouldn’t fail.

Mordecai pleaded, “You must act,

For such a time as this, you were brought to this fact.

Speak to the king, though it risks your life,

Plead for your people to end their strife.”

Esther fasted, prayed, and drew near,

Trusting God to overcome her fear.

She approached the king with courage and grace,

And found favor as she sought her place.

Esther held a banquet for the king,

And Haman joined, his pride taking wing.

At the second feast, she made her plea,

Revealing Haman’s vile decree.

The king grew angry, his wrath burned hot,

Haman’s wickedness was not forgot.

Haman was hanged on the gallows he made,

For plotting the Jews’ death, his life was repaid.

Though Haman was gone, the decree remained,

The Jews’ destruction was still ordained.

But the king gave Mordecai his ring,

To write a new law, a hopeful thing.

The Jews could fight to defend their lives,

And victory came as they survived.

God’s hand of protection was clear to see,

As He saved His people from the enemy.

In joy and triumph, the Jews gave praise,

For God’s deliverance and His ways.

Mordecai rose to a position high,

A leader for Israel under God’s eye.

The Feast of Purim was then decreed,

To remember the day they were freed.

God’s faithfulness shines, His plan is true,

He works all things for His people’s good too.

Outro: God’s Providence and Sovereignty

The book of Esther shows God’s hand,

Though His name is hidden, His works are grand.

Through Esther and Mordecai, He saved the Jews,

Turning evil plans into good news.

It reminds us today, though we may not see,

God is at work, setting captives free.
