(EZRA)

Cyrus of Persia made a decree,

“Return to your land, rebuild, be free!

The Lord has called me to set you apart,

To rebuild His temple, a work to start.”

Led by Zerubbabel, they made their way,

Back to Jerusalem without delay.

God stirred their hearts, His promise fulfilled,

To restore His people and rebuild.

The people returned, their hearts set on fire,

To rebuild the temple and lift God higher.

They laid the altar, offered their praise,

And began to work in those early days.

But enemies rose to oppose their plan,

Bringing fear and halting man.

The work was delayed, but God made it clear,

“Be strong, rebuild, for I am near.”

Prophets Haggai and Zechariah spoke,

To stir the people, their spirits woke.

Zerubbabel and Jeshua led the way,

The temple’s foundation was built to stay.

Though enemies plotted, God gave them peace,

The work continued and did not cease.

The temple was finished, worship restored,

The people rejoiced and praised the Lord.

Years later, Ezra arose to lead,

A scribe of the Law, a man of great need.

The king of Persia gave his command,

“Take God’s law back to the land.”

Ezra taught the people to follow God’s Word,

To obey His commands and live undeterred.

He sought to rebuild their faith anew,

To make them holy and righteous too.

Ezra discovered a troubling sin,

The people had let foreign ways in.

They married those who worshiped wrong,

Turning from God, where they belonged.

Ezra wept and prayed, confessing their sin,

Calling the people to start again.

The people repented, they made it right,

Seeking the Lord with all their might.

The people gathered, their hearts contrite,

Confessing their sins, seeking God’s light.

They put away idols and foreign ties,

Pledging to serve the Lord Most High.

Ezra led them in God’s commands,

Restoring the covenant in their hands.

Through repentance and faith, they were renewed,

God’s mercy and love were once more pursued.

Ezra’s story shows God’s great plan,

To restore His people, redeem the land.

Through exile and sin, God’s promise stayed,

His faithfulness and love never swayed.

The temple rebuilt, worship restored,

The people returned to serve the Lord.

God’s mercy endures, His covenant true,

A faithful God for me and you.

The book of Ezra tells the tale,

Of God’s redemption that will not fail.

Through leaders like Ezra, who sought His face,

God brought His people back to grace.

It reminds us today of His perfect plan,

To restore and redeem every woman and man.
