Nahum
Nahum the prophet was sent to proclaim,
God’s judgment on Nineveh, in His holy name.
The city of Assyria, cruel and proud,
Would face God’s wrath, fierce and loud.
“The Lord is a refuge, strong and near,
But His enemies will tremble with fear.”
Nahum reminds us, though God is kind,
He is just and leaves no sin behind.
The Lord is patient, slow to wrath,
But He will not leave the guilty unscathed.
The mountains quake, the rivers dry,
Before the power of God Most High.
He is good, a refuge in days of strife,
A protector for those who seek His life.
Nahum shows us God’s justice and might,
And His care for the faithful who walk in His light.
Nineveh, a city of blood and lies,
Will meet its end as justice cries.
“Woe to the city, cruel and vile,
Your strength will fail, your wealth defiled.
The nations you crushed will now rejoice,
As God brings vengeance with His voice.”
Nahum warns that no evil will stand,
Before the justice of God’s hand.
Nineveh thought it could never fall,
With walls so strong and armies tall.
But God would send a flood to destroy,
And strip away their pride and joy.
Their idols and gods would fail to save,
As they descended into the grave.
Nahum reminds us that pride will decay,
For God humbles the mighty who go astray.
The Lord declared, “Your end is near,
Your wickedness I will not bear.
Your leaders are weak, your people will flee,
Your power is gone; you’ll cease to be.
I’m against you,” the Lord decreed,
“And I’ll bring justice for every deed.”
Nahum shows that God will repay,
The wicked who turn from His righteous way.
Though judgment falls on Nineveh’s land,
God’s people are safe in His mighty hand.
“I will break their yoke from your neck,
Their cruelty and power I will wreck.
Rejoice, O Judah, for freedom is near,
The oppressors are gone, you’ve nothing to fear.”
Nahum brings hope to those who believe,
That God will deliver and never leave.
Nahum ends with a vision clear,
Of God’s control over all we hold dear.
Nations may rise, and nations may fall,
But God reigns sovereign over them all.
He judges the wicked, defends the weak,
And brings justice to all who seek.
Nahum reminds us, in God we can trust,
For He rules the world, righteous and just.
The book of Nahum is a solemn word,
Of God’s justice, fierce and undeterred.
It warns the wicked, but comforts the just,
To seek the Lord and in Him trust.
It shows that God’s power will never fail,
As His justice and mercy prevail.
Nahum calls us to trust His plan,
For He rules with justice over every land.
