Lyrics
(Habakkuk)
Habakkuk cried, “O Lord, how long?
Why do You let the wicked go strong?
Violence and evil fill the land,
Where is Your justice, where is Your hand?”
God answered, “I see their sin,
I’ll send the Babylonians to discipline them.”
Habakkuk shows it’s okay to pray,
And bring our questions to God each day.
God revealed His sovereign plan,
To use Babylon, a ruthless man.
“They will conquer, destroy, and take,
For Judah’s sins, My judgment they’ll make.
But don’t despair, for they too shall fall,
My justice will come upon them all.”
Habakkuk reminds us that God is just,
His plans are perfect, in Him we trust.
“How can You, O Lord, so pure and true,
Use the wicked to punish Your people too?
The Babylonians are cruel and vile,
Yet You let them prosper all the while.
Will they destroy without an end?
When will Your justice finally descend?”
Habakkuk shows us it’s okay to plead,
And ask God questions in times of need.
God replied, “Write down what you see,
My vision is coming, though it may tarry.
The proud will fall, their power will fade,
But the righteous live by faith displayed.
Woe to the greedy, the violent, the vain,
For My justice will come and forever reign.”
Habakkuk shows that faith is the key,
To trust in God’s sovereignty.
God pronounced woes on the evil and proud,
Who built their empires with violence so loud.
“Woe to the tyrants who plunder and take,
Their wealth will crumble, their kingdoms will break.
Woe to the drunkards, the idol-makers too,
For no false god can save or renew.”
Habakkuk reminds us that sin won’t last,
And God’s justice will come to pass.
Habakkuk prayed, “O Lord, I’ve heard,
Your mighty deeds, Your holy Word.
In wrath, remember mercy, I plead,
Revive Your works, meet our need.
Though the fig tree fails, and the fields are bare,
I’ll rejoice in You, for You’re always there.”
Habakkuk teaches us to trust and sing,
Even in trials, to our faithful King.
The prophet ends with a joyful song,
Declaring God’s strength when things go wrong.
“The Sovereign Lord is my strength and guide,
He makes me strong, with Him I’ll abide.
Like a deer on the heights, I’ll stand,
Secure and steady, held by His hand.”
Habakkuk shows us to worship and pray,
Trusting God’s plan, come what may.
The book of Habakkuk is a heartfelt cry,
Of a prophet who asks the question, “Why?”
It shows God’s justice, His mercy, His might,
And calls us to live by faith, not by sight.
Though trials come and evil may reign,
God’s justice will stand, His kingdom remain.
Habakkuk reminds us to trust and believe,
For God’s perfect plan we will receive.
