(Jonah)

God called Jonah, His prophet true,

“Go to Nineveh; preach what I tell you to do.

Their wickedness has reached My ear,

Warn them, for My judgment is near.”

But Jonah fled, to Tarshish he sailed,

Running from God, his mission derailed.

Jonah reminds us we cannot hide,

From God’s commands or His will for our lives.

A mighty storm shook the sea and the boat,

The sailors cried out, struggling to stay afloat.

They cast lots, and Jonah confessed,

“I’ve disobeyed God; I must be addressed.”

Thrown overboard, the storm was stilled,

And the sailors worshiped as God had willed.

Jonah shows us that God’s hand is strong,

Guiding all things, even when we’re wrong.

A great fish swallowed Jonah whole,

In its belly, he prayed from his soul.

“From the depths, O Lord, I cry,

You heard my prayer, You heard my sigh.

Salvation belongs to You alone,

I’ll praise Your name, Your mercy is shown.”

God commanded the fish, and Jonah was freed,

A second chance for him to heed.

Jonah obeyed and went to proclaim,

“Forty days, and Nineveh ends in shame!”

The people believed, from greatest to least,

They fasted and prayed, even king and beast.

God saw their hearts, their repentance true,

And turned from the judgment He planned to do.

Jonah shows God’s mercy and grace,

For all who repent and seek His face.

Jonah was angry and filled with despair,

“How could You forgive? It’s just not fair!

I knew You were gracious, slow to wrath,

But why spare Nineveh from judgment’s path?”

He sat outside, bitter and mad,

While God taught him a lesson to be had.

Jonah reminds us to share God’s love,

And rejoice in His mercy from heaven above.

God made a plant to shade Jonah’s head,

Then sent a worm, and the plant was dead.

The sun beat down, Jonah wished to die,

But God asked him, “Why are you angry? Why?

You care for a plant, here and gone,

Shouldn’t I care for people, lost and forlorn?”

God’s love extends to all who live,

To those who repent, He loves to forgive.

The story of Jonah ends with grace,

God’s love extends to every race.

Nineveh’s people, though wicked and wild,

Were spared by God, forgiven as His child.

Jonah’s story points to Christ,

Who came to save and pay sin’s price.

It calls us to share God’s mercy and care,

With a world in need, everywhere.

The book of Jonah is a tale of God’s love,

Of mercy that flows from heaven above.

It warns against pride and selfish disdain,

And calls us to share His truth again.

It shows that God’s grace is for every land,

And His forgiveness is always at hand.

Jonah reminds us to trust and obey,

And to love like our God, every day.
