(2 Chronicles)

Solomon began his reign with wisdom and might,

He sought the Lord, walking in His light.

He built the temple, a house for God’s name,

A place of worship, His glory proclaimed.

The Ark was brought, the people prayed,

God’s presence filled the temple they made.

Solomon declared, “The Lord is good,”

His covenant stands, as He said it would.

God blessed Solomon with riches and fame,

Wisdom unmatched, all nations knew his name.

Kings and queens came from far and wide,

To hear his wisdom and stand by his side.

But Solomon’s heart began to stray,

As foreign gods led him away.

Though his kingdom prospered, his faith grew weak,

A warning for all who the Lord don’t seek.

After Solomon’s death, his son took the throne,

Rehoboam ruled, but wisdom wasn’t shown.

He ignored wise counsel, the people rebelled,

The kingdom divided, as the prophets had foretold.

Judah remained with David’s line,

While Israel worshipped idols, crossing the line.

The split brought strife, the nations at war,

God’s people divided, united no more.

The Chronicles recount Judah’s kings,

Some followed God, others did sinful things.

Asa and Jehoshaphat sought the Lord’s face,

Their faith brought peace and His saving grace.

But others like Ahaz turned away,

Bringing idolatry and leading astray.

The rise and fall of Judah’s kings,

Show how faithfulness to God brings blessings.

Hezekiah rose, a king of reform,

He called for repentance, his faith reborn.

He cleansed the temple, restored God’s ways,

And led the people in worship and praise.

When Assyria came, he sought God in prayer,

And God delivered them from their despair.

Hezekiah’s faith brought victory and peace,

A reminder that trust in the Lord won’t cease.

Josiah, the young king, sought God’s face,

Destroying idols, cleansing the sacred space.

He found the Law, long lost and ignored,

And led the people back to the Lord.

The Passover kept, the covenant restored,

But judgment loomed for sins abhorred.

Though Josiah was faithful, his time was brief,

And Judah’s rebellion brought God more grief.

The people rebelled, ignoring God’s call,

Despite the prophets, they rejected it all.

Babylon came, Jerusalem burned,

The temple destroyed, God’s glory spurned.

Judah was exiled, the land left bare,

A consequence of sin too great to repair.

Yet hope remained, God’s Word was true,

A remnant would rise, His plan renewed.

2 Chronicles shows God’s sovereign hand,

Guiding His people, fulfilling His plan.

Through faithful kings and those who strayed,

God’s mercy endured, though His people disobeyed.

Even in exile, His promise would stand,

To restore His people and heal their land.

A coming King, a Savior divine,

Would one day reign from David’s line.
