Lyrics
(Amos)
Amos was a shepherd in Tekoa’s land,
Called by God with a heavy command.
Not a prophet by trade, nor a prophet’s son,
But chosen to speak of judgment to come.
He warned Israel of their sinful ways,
And called them to repent in their days.
Amos reminds us God calls the weak,
To speak His truth, humble and meek.
Amos began with words of fire,
Judgment on nations that drew God’s ire.
Damascus, Gaza, Tyre, and more,
For violence and sin, God would settle the score.
But then he turned to Israel’s land,
For their sins were also at God’s hand.
Amos shows that no one’s exempt,
From God’s justice, His righteous contempt.
Amos condemned the wealthy and proud,
Who oppressed the poor and spoke so loud.
They trampled the needy, sold them for gain,
While living in luxury, ignoring their pain.
“You offer Me worship, but your hearts are cold,
I reject your offerings, your silver, and gold.”
Amos warns against greed and deceit,
And calls for justice to roll down the street.
“The Day of the Lord is not what you think,
It’s darkness and judgment, a terrible brink.
You long for the day, but you’re not prepared,
For God’s wrath is coming, His justice declared.
Let justice flow like rivers wide,
And righteousness like a never-failing tide.”
Amos reminds us to live in the light,
To seek what is just, and do what is right.
Amos saw visions of what would come,
Locusts, fire, and a plumb line’s sum.
God measured His people, found them astray,
Their sin would bring ruin, no other way.
A basket of fruit, ripe for the fall,
Showed Israel’s judgment—God’s final call.
Amos warns that time runs out,
For those who live in sin and doubt.
“Seek the Lord and live,” Amos cried,
“Turn from evil, from greed and pride.
Hate what is evil, love what is good,
Establish justice in your brotherhood.
Perhaps the Lord will show His grace,
And spare you from your dreadful place.”
Amos calls us to seek His face,
And walk in His ways, filled with grace.
Amid the judgment, hope breaks through,
God promises to make all things new.
“I’ll restore David’s fallen tent,
Rebuild the ruins, My mercy is sent.
The hills will drip with sweet, new wine,
And blessings will flow, forever divine.
I’ll plant My people, never to roam,
They’ll dwell with Me in their eternal home.”
The book of Amos is a trumpet’s sound,
A call to justice where sin abounds.
It warns of judgment, but hope shines bright,
For God’s mercy will make all things right.
It calls us to care for the weak and poor,
To seek the Lord and love Him more.
Amos reminds us of God’s great plan,
To bring justice and mercy to every man.
