(2 Peter)
Peter begins with a call to grow,
In faith and knowledge, so Christ we’ll know.
“God’s divine power gives all we need,
To live a godly life and follow His lead.
Make every effort to add to your faith,
Goodness, knowledge, and love in grace.”
Peter opens with a call to maturity,
To grow in Christ and live in purity.
Peter reminds believers of God’s Word,
A light in the darkness to be observed.
“No prophecy came by human will,
But by the Spirit, God’s plan was fulfilled.
We were eyewitnesses of His majesty,
His glory revealed for all to see.”
Peter exalts the Scriptures’ might,
Guiding believers with truth and light.
Peter warns of false teachers who deceive,
Twisting the truth so others believe.
“They exploit with words, their motives are greed,
Bringing destruction through every deed.
The Lord will judge, their doom is near,
But He rescues the godly who persevere.”
Peter urges us to stay alert,
To reject false teaching that leads to hurt.
Peter points to examples from long ago,
Of God’s judgment on sin, and grace He’ll show.
“He judged the world with a flood so vast,
Yet saved Noah, as the waters passed.
He turned Sodom to ashes, but rescued Lot,
The righteous are saved, though the wicked are not.”
Peter reminds us of God’s justice and grace,
He rescues the faithful in every place.
Peter warns of scoffers who mock the truth,
Denying the promise since the days of youth.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His word,
But patient, so His voice can be heard.
The day of the Lord will come like a thief,
So live holy lives, and hold to belief.”
Peter calls us to prepare and stay,
For Christ’s return on the final day.
Peter looks ahead to what’s in store,
A new creation where sin is no more.
“We wait for a new heaven and earth,
Where righteousness dwells and there’s new birth.
Make every effort to be spotless and pure,
At peace with God, His promise is sure.”
Peter inspires us to hope and strive,
For the eternal home where we’ll truly thrive.
Peter concludes with a final plea,
To grow in grace and live faithfully.
“Be on your guard, don’t fall away,
From the truth that guides you every day.
Grow in grace and knowledge of Christ,
To Him be glory, the giver of life.”
Peter ends with a call to stand,
Firm in faith, guided by God’s hand.
The book of 2 Peter is a solemn appeal,
To grow in faith and God’s truth reveal.
It warns of false teachers and judgment’s call,
But promises salvation for those who give all.
It looks to the future, when Christ will appear,
And calls us to live in holiness here.
Peter reminds us, as we run the race,
To stand firm in truth and grow in grace.
