(1 Timothy)

Paul writes to Timothy, his Spiritual son,

To guide the church in the work begun.

“Stay in Ephesus, guard the truth,

Avoid false teaching and endless disputes.

The goal of this charge is love so pure,

Faith and a good conscience that will endure.”

Timothy begins with a call to defend,

The gospel of Christ until the end.

Paul reminds Timothy of the gospel’s grace,

And Christ’s mission to save the human race.

“Christ came to save sinners, of whom I’m chief,

His mercy and patience bring great relief.

God’s grace overflowed, His love is true,

A faithful saying for me and you.”

Timothy proclaims salvation’s plan,

Through Christ’s mercy for every man.

Paul teaches how the church should pray,

For leaders and all, in a humble way.

“Pray for kings and those in power,

That we may live peaceful lives each hour.

There’s one God, one mediator, Christ the Son,

Who gave Himself for everyone.”

Timothy calls for prayerful hearts,

In worship where unity starts.

Paul outlines the traits leaders must show,

To guide the church and help it grow.

“An overseer must be above reproach,

Self-controlled, not quick to approach.

Deacons must be dignified and sincere,

Faithful in Christ, their calling clear.”

Timothy gives the church a guide,

For leaders who walk in faith and abide.

Paul warns of those who deceive and stray,

Teaching false doctrines along the way.

“Some forbid marriage, others restrict food,

But all God created is good.

Train yourself in godliness, hold fast,

For physical training fades, but faith will last.”

Timothy urges discernment and care,

To reject false teaching and stay in prayer.

Paul teaches how to care for those in need,

Widows, elders, and servants indeed.

“Honor widows who are truly alone,

Provide for family, make kindness known.

Elders deserve respect for their role,

Especially those who shepherd the soul.”

Timothy calls the church to love,

Reflecting Christ’s care from above.

Paul warns of greed and worldly gain,

And urges Timothy to remain unstained.

“The love of money leads to great despair,

But godliness with contentment is rare.

Fight the good fight, keep the faith,

Lay hold of eternal life and grace.”

Timothy ends with a charge to obey,

And follow Christ each step of the way.

The book of 1 Timothy is a letter of care,

Teaching Timothy how to lead and prepare.

It calls the church to prayer and truth,

To worship rightly and train the youth.

It warns of false teachings and worldly greed,

And calls leaders to serve and meet the need.

Timothy reminds us all to fight,

The good fight of faith with God’s light.
