(1 SAMUEL)

Hannah wept, her heart in pain,

Longing for a child, she prayed again.

At Shiloh’s temple, she made her plea,

“Lord, give a son, I’ll give him to Thee.”

God heard her cry, and Samuel was born,

A prophet of God, a leader sworn.

Dedicated to serve, his life set apart,

A faithful man with a servant’s heart.

The people cried, “Give us a king!

We want a ruler, a crown to bring!”

Samuel warned, “The Lord is your King,

But you reject Him for a worldly thing.

A king will take, demand, and rule,

You’ll trade your freedom, you’ll play the fool.”

Still, they insisted, their hearts were set,

And Saul was chosen, the king they’d get.

Saul was anointed, tall and strong,

The Spirit of God came, he couldn’t go wrong.

At first, he led with a humble heart,

But pride and fear tore him apart.

He disobeyed, the Lord’s command,

Sparing the Amalekites against His plan.

God rejected Saul, his kingdom would fall,

A new king was chosen, to answer God’s call.

The Lord sent Samuel to Jesse’s land,

To find a king by God’s own hand.

Not the strong, nor the tall would do,

But David, the shepherd, faithful and true.

Anointed by oil, the Spirit came,

God’s chosen one, to bring Him fame.

A man after God’s own heart would rise,

To lead His people with righteous eyes.

Goliath stood, a giant of war,

Israel trembled, their courage no more.

Young David stepped forth, with faith so bold,

“The battle is God’s, not silver or gold.”

With a sling and a stone, the giant fell,

God’s power displayed, His name to tell.

David rose, a warrior known,

God’s favor rested on him alone.

Saul grew jealous, his heart turned cold,

As David’s fame and favor took hold.

He sought to kill him, to end his reign,

But David fled, through trial and pain.

Jonathan’s friendship, a bond so deep,

Helped David escape and his life to keep.

Through caves and deserts, David would roam,

Waiting on God to bring him home.

Saul sought answers, but God was still,

His disobedience had broken God’s will.

He turned to a medium, seeking the dead,

But judgment was near; his fate was said.

In battle with Philistines, his sons were slain,

Saul fell on his sword, ending his reign.

David mourned, though Saul was his foe,

A king was gone, but God’s plan would grow.

From Samuel’s birth to Saul’s demise,

God’s hand was clear, His purpose wise.

David was chosen, His promise sure,

Through him, a kingdom that would endure.

1 Samuel shows how God is King,

Above all rulers, above everything.

His plans prevail, His Word is true,

A Savior will come to make all things new.
