Jeremiah
Jeremiah was called before his birth,
To be a prophet to nations of the earth.
God touched his lips and gave him His Word,
To proclaim the truth, though it wouldn’t be heard.
“Do not be afraid, for I am with you,”
To uproot and tear down, to plant and renew.
Jeremiah’s mission was hard and long,
Yet God gave him strength to remain strong.
Jeremiah warned of Judah’s sin,
Idolatry and rebellion deep within.
The people forsook the covenant of old,
Worshiping false gods made of silver and gold.
“Repent,” he cried, “and turn to the Lord,
Or face destruction by the sword.”
But the people refused to hear his plea,
And judgment came as God’s decree.
Jeremiah foretold Jerusalem’s fall,
As Babylon’s armies would conquer all.
The temple destroyed, the city in flames,
God’s people exiled, bearing their shame.
Yet amid the sorrow, hope remained,
For God’s mercy and promises were sustained.
Jeremiah wept for his people’s plight,
Known as the “weeping prophet” in their night.
Though Judah faced judgment, God’s plan was clear,
To restore His people and draw them near.
“I will give them a heart to know Me,”
A new covenant, written for eternity.
“I will forgive their sins, remember no more,
And bring them back to the land they adore.”
Jeremiah’s words of hope shine bright,
Pointing to God’s mercy and light.
Jeremiah faced rejection and pain,
Mocked and beaten for his refrain.
He was cast into a cistern, left to die,
Yet he trusted in God, who heard his cry.
Though his message brought him grief,
Jeremiah found comfort in his belief.
He stayed faithful, despite great cost,
Proclaiming God’s Word to the broken and lost.
Jeremiah spoke of judgment abroad,
Against nations who defied God.
Egypt, Moab, Babylon too,
Would face destruction for what they do.
God’s sovereignty over kingdoms is clear,
He rules all nations far and near.
Jeremiah reminds us that God’s plan is just,
His power and wisdom are worthy of trust.
Jeremiah foretold of a King to come,
A righteous Branch, God’s chosen one.
“He will reign wisely, with justice and peace,
His kingdom and righteousness will never cease.”
This prophecy points to Christ, our King,
Through whom salvation and hope spring.
Jeremiah’s words of hope endure,
God’s promises are steadfast and sure.
The book of Jeremiah is both bitter and sweet,
A message of judgment and hope complete.
It warns of sin and calls to repent,
While pointing to Jesus, the Savior God sent.
It teaches us to trust in God’s plan,
For He redeems and restores every man.
Through Jeremiah’s tears, God’s love shines through,
A promise of mercy for me and you.
