Before the time, before the day,
Wisdom spoke and paved the way.
Heaven stood, the throne prepared,
Before the earth was formed with care.
Then God declared, "Let there be light,"
And day was born from endless night.
The sky stretched wide, the waters high,
His voice alone set worlds to fly.
By His word, the stars ignite,
Earth awakened in His sight.
All was void, then life began,
Shaped and breathed by sovereign hands.
Mountains rose at His command,
Seas were traced by holy hand.
Every beast and every tree,
Spoke His name in majesty.
Day three, the land and fields appeared,
Rivers ran, the roots grew near.
Then sun and moon in skies were hung,
By day they shone, by night they sung.
The waters swarmed, the air was filled,
Wing and fin as He had willed.
Then beasts of earth in splendor came,
Each one crafted, called by name.
By His word, the stars ignite,
Earth awakened in His sight.
All was void, then life began,
Shaped and breathed by sovereign hands.
Then in His image, man was formed,
Breath of life, His heart adorned.
Six days passed, His work was done,
The seventh shone-a rest begun..
