The First Look

The First Look
I still remember that ordinary day,
How the world felt softer when you came my way.
Nothing loud, nothing grand, just something new
Like the sky leaned in a little closer to hear us through.
A simple “hello,” a smile I can’t forget,
And somehow life began to rhyme… when we met.
It wasn’t fireworks up in the air,
It was a light turning on somewhere.
Quiet, steady, warm and true
Like my heart already recognized you.
When we met, there was a spark in the small things,
In the way your laughter gave my worries wings.
And if the road gets rough, if the days feel long,
We can look back to the place we started from.
Not to pretend we never bend
Just to remember: we’re worth it again.
When we met… love stepped in.
We learned each other like favorite songs,
Not perfect notes, but still we sing along.
We’ve grown some storms, we’ve had some gray,
But even clouds can’t steal what lit the way.
There’s a promise in the simplest thread
The way you held my hand… when we met.
And maybe time can leave a mark,
But it can’t un-start a start.
So we breathe, and we begin
Find that first “us” again.
When we met, there was a spark in the small things,
In the way your laughter gave my worries wings.
And if the road gets rough, if the days feel long,
We can look back to the place we started from.
Not to pretend we never bend
Just to remember: we’re worth it again.
When we met… love stepped in.
Let’s not keep score, let’s keep close,
Trade sharp words for softer roads.
One small step, one honest try
Meet me in the “we” behind our pride.
When we met, we were brave without knowing,
Just two hearts with a little hope showing.
So if the night feels heavy, if the tears arrive,
We’ll hold the tiny flame that kept us alive.
We can start where we began
With open hands, and a simple plan:
Remember the spark… when we met.
