A Gentle Warning About Communion

Communion is a holy place of remembrance and healing.

God never uses it to frighten His children — only to draw them close with clean and peaceful hearts.

But Scripture also gives a clear and honest warning:

"For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep."

— 1 Corinthians 11:29–30

This doesn't mean God is striking people down.

It means this:

When someone comes to the Lord's Table with bitterness, unconfessed sin, or a closed heart, they step outside the peace and protection that communion is meant to bring.

A troubled heart affects the mind, the spirit, and even the body.

The warning is there to protect us, not condemn us.

If we pause, examine ourselves, forgive, and come honestly before God,

communion becomes what it was always meant to be —

a place of healing, cleansing, and renewal.
